1.6 million trees planted for Forest for Cornwall

A new map reveals that more than 1.6 million trees have been planted across the region as part of the Forest for Cornwall, which is now celebrating its fifth anniversary.

Residents, farmers, landholders, community groups and organisations have all contributed by growing tree saplings in fields, farms, towns, villages, schools, parks and gardens. Here in Rocky Valley, we have contributed to that total with a range of trees to enhance the habitat of the wonderful Temperate Rainforest that bedecks the valley slopes.

Cornwall Council launched the initiative in summer 2019 to help the region respond to climate changeboost nature recovery and create more green spaces for one and all.

Expanding the Forest for Cornwall is a key priority in the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Nature Recovery Strategy, one of the first plans of its kind in the country to detail actions needed to reverse the decline of nature and bring species of wildlife back from the brink.
